Public Building

Texas DSHS requires Licensing and notification for any disturbance of asbestos containing material in public building.

Home Renovation

Texas DSHS exclude private homes from licensing . There still is OSHA 29CFR1926.1101 Asbestos Construction Standard, itrequires protection of workers from asbestos exposure. Asbestos is known to be found in older homes in floor tile, attic insulation, wiring, sheetrock mud and transite siding.

Shipbreaking Industry

Scope and application. This section regulates asbestos exposure in all shipyard employment work as defined in 29 CFR part 1915, including but not limited to the following:* Demolition or salvage of structures, vessels, and vessel sections where asbestos is present;* Removal or encapsulation of materials containing asbestos;* Construction, alteration, repair, maintenance, or renovation of vessels, vessel sections, structures, substrates, or portions thereof, that contain asbestos; ect.

OCT is an Asbestos License Training provider in Texas, Louisiana, Alabama and Arkansas. Above classes are only for Texas accreditation. If other State(s) accreditation are needed there is a notification required to the state. Advance notice is required to be given to OCT and additional payment will be added to price of course. Contact our office for further info at 832-436-8669. Special course for groups can be requested and also out of Houston area onsite can be given.

    Public and non-profit private schools have distinct regulatory requirements to protect school children and school employees from asbestos exposure.     How Schools Comply with the Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA) The AHERA regulations require public school districts and non-profit schools to:
    * Perform an original inspection to determine whether asbestos-containing materials are present and then re-inspect asbestos-containing material in each school every three years * Develop, maintain, and update an asbestos management plan and keep a copy at the school* Provide yearly notification to parent, teacher, and employee organizations on the availability of the school's asbestos management plan and any asbestos-related actions taken or planned in the school* Designate a contact person to ensure the responsibilities of the public school district or the non-profit school are properly implemented* Perform periodic surveillance of known or suspected asbestos-containing building material* Ensure that trained and licensed professionals perform inspections and take response actions* Provide custodial staff with asbestos-awareness training
